If you're a seasoned traveller, you'll know that packing light is the way to go. Because after all, who wants to be weighed down with a load of luggage on a trip?

Here are our top 6 recommended fabrics that are wrinkle-free and easy to wash. Let's get packing!

Merino Wool

Did you know? Merino wool is a responsive natural material that adapts to your body’s temperature. This means it keeps you cool when you’re hot and warms you up when you’re cold thanks to lots of tiny air pockets. Besides being lightweight, merino wool is also wrinkle-resistant!

Dry-clean, hand-wash in cold water with wool detergent or use the wool programme.

Cashmere

Comfort is key when it comes to travelling and cashmere is one fabric that gives you just that. Apart from being luxurious and soft, cashmere hardly has wrinkles. However, if your top appears wrinkly when taken out of your suitcase, just hang it or lay it flat for a bit to minimise the wrinkles.

Dry-cleaning bags are great for fancy clothes. Place them in a dry-cleaning bag before you fold them to prevent any wrinkles.

Nylon/Polyester

Many people shy away from these fabrics, but nylon and polyester work well for travel clothing. Other than being wrinkle-free, they’re both quick-drying fabrics, so if you have to hand wash your clothes while travelling, they will be pretty dry when it’s time to pack or wear the next morning.

A good rule of thumb for packing efficiently is to pack three tops for every bottom as they take up less space when packing.

Knitwear

There are different types of knits including cotton knit, wool knit and synthetic knit fibers that are perfect for travel because it requires the least amount of effort when it comes to caring for the fabric.

Keep delicate clothes from wrinkling by cushioning them around items like sweaters and knit shirts.

Neoprene

Neoprene isn't just reserved for scuba suits and swimwear—you can find tops and bottoms made of this hardy fabric too. Needless to say, they're resistant to wrinkles, flexible and easy to pack!

Denim

Despite their weight, denim makes a wonderful travel fabric because they do not get as many wrinkles as other materials. However, if there are creases, all you have to do is to run your pair of jeans or jacket under a hair dryer to minimise the crinkles.

When it comes to travelling light, stretch denim jeans is preferred as they tend to be lightweight and easy-to-wear.
